Indonesian University Adopts Blockchain for Student Records
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), a leading Indonesian research institution, is pioneering on-chain academic credentials through a partnership with decentralized database platform Space and Time. The initiative will initially cover English proficiency courses for 60,000 students, with digital wallets preloaded for tuition payments.
The Immutable credential system aims to democratize education verification globally while bypassing traditional financial infrastructure. "This gives students a portable, tamper-proof record of achievements," said Space and Time CTO Scott Dykstra. The rollout coincides with UGM's separate AI lab development, signaling dual-focus on emerging technologies.
